Thursday (previous post) may well have been not only a Late Summer Day, but even the Last Summer Day ... Since yesterday we're back to rain pouring down again, and I've been donning full rain gear for my walks - including the wellies that I bought for our recent trip to the coast...
good bye dear summer. at least you have a chance to wear the new wellies and it looks like they were the perfect choice and time to buy them
ReplyDeleteSandra, I had long been thinking I should have a pair, even if in town one does usually get by without them. But in really rainy weather they do give one a bit more "freedom"... ;-)
DeleteGood time to check that they are indeed waterproof.
ReplyDeleteSo far, so good, JayCee! :)
DeleteIt's my favourite season, we are coming into the opposite here, things are starting to grow and bloom.
ReplyDeleteAmy, I like autumn too - but have to confess I like it even better when not raining too much!
DeleteLove the last two, especially the fall-colored mushroom. It looks like you may have risked life & limb to snap them, as you had to walk on these boards to get over over this pothole. Tricky!
ReplyDeleteGinny, there was no risk of life and limb involved. That's a bench to sit and rest on (preferably in dry weather!), not a bridge...
DeleteIt seems to be Autumn here as well. Good to see the 'wellies' are getting more use.
ReplyDeleteGraham, if it's going to continue like this, I'll be more than glad that I bought the wellies... ;-)
DeleteVery autumnal indeed! Love the Fliegenpilz - what do you call it in Swedish?
ReplyDeleteHere, the temperature has dropped radically within one day from over 30 to under 20 C. The sky is grey and rain is forecast for most of the day. I so want a walk, but don‘t have my wellies here at O.K.‘s 😊
Meike,'Fliegenpilz' is 'flugsvamp' in Swedish = a direct translation. Fly agaric in English - or fly amanita, or Amanita Muscaria. Just checked the English Wiki article, which tells me that traditionally it was used for getting rid of bugs/flies. - Perhaps you should be keeping an extra pair of wellies at O.K.'s! ;-)
DeleteYou are getting a lot of wear out of your wellies. Sad to say goodbye to summer, especially in your northern climate.
ReplyDeleteIt's rained here for the first time in a couple of months, and the sky looks as though it's promising more. There will be dancing in the streets!
Carol, so far I've only worn the wellies twice (at the Pilane sculpture park on our recent trip, and yesterday), but yes, it seems likely I'll find good use for them if the autumn continues as it's started...
DeleteA good pair of gummies are never wasted. Hope you're not in for a wet winter like we've just experienced.
