The whole month of May having been warmer than usual, and ending with a week of thunder and torrential showers, the azaleas, and also some of the rhododendron, are "past their prime" already... (Photos taken yesterday, 31 May.)
You did well in taking in all that beauty while it lasted, Monica. With the sudden warm spell we had in April, my cherry tree was in bloom for a much shorter time than in other years, too.
Thanks Meike. While those azaleas are in bloom, I almost feel it's like my duty to walk by and check on them almost eveyr day, because I know they're only in bloom for a rather short period of time! ;-)
I have always seen the beauty in the fallen flowers, I think they are just as pretty after they die, but in a different way. a carpet of flowers under our tree make me happy.
They are just as pretty on the ground as they are on the bushes!
ReplyDeleteGinny, they are - but also a reminder that "nothing lasts forever"...
DeleteThe petals on the ground are delightful. I think of lavender snow on the ground on those last two photos.
ReplyDeleteTerra, there are also lots of smaller white petals from various trees, reminding even more of snow...

DeleteThey may be starting to fade, but they still look beautiful and colourful. The close-ups of the flowers are so clear and detailed.
ReplyDeleteCarol, I love experimenting with close-up photos...
