Some of my “beach finds” last weekend.

I suppose they are Anodonta anatina, duck mussels in English (“allmän dammussla” – common pond mussel – in Swedish), as that one, according to Wikipedia, is the most widely distributed large freshwater bivalve in Sweden.

Grilled socks, anyone?

  1. Grilled socks: it's amazing what some people seem to leave behind. Socks are explainable I suppose but some things......?

    1. In their defense (whoever They were), there were probably a lot of people who felt a need to pack up their things in a hurry the day before, because of sudden rain and thunder... The socks on the grill seemed a bit unusual though. Things like that set my imagination going: Why? Did someone lit a fire to dry them...? :)

    2. Oops, fell into a grammar trap when I inserted "did" in the last sentence...

  2. Fun! A beach treasure hunt. Getting hungry after the hunt, I'll have two fingers of grilled glove, please...

    1. No gloves found, I'm afraid. Not many people wear those to the beach in July :)

  3. Yeah... what's so difficult about taking ALL the stuff you brought to the beach with you when you leave, socks and toys included?

The scenery there looks so soothing, I can imagine going for long walks there and then spend hours sitting on a blanket, reading and eating.

    1. Meike, it's a beautiful spot. The area near the lake is also a nature reserve and I'm sure you'd enjoy walking there.

  4. Glad you enjoyed your walk on the beach....I always find it so soothing.
So did you take any shells home with you? A collection in the making perhaps?

    1. No more collections, Virginia ;) I have one of these shells at home since before. That (along with the photos) is really all I need to remember the feel and shape of them. Come to think of it, though, I used to also have a small collection of various seashells picked on holidays in the past. Just one little jar. I'm not sure if I still have it somewhere.
