Haute Couture

On Saturday I went to see an exhibition at our Textile Museum presenting the World of Lars Wallin, a Swedish couture designer. He made lots of costumes for various kinds of shows and events like the Royal Opera, the Eurovision song contest and and the Nobel Prize ceremonies.

It was a very impressive collection of costumes and dresses. As I have an annual pass to the museums in my town I might go back again for another look.

  1. Monica, this post was a breath of fresh air. I stink of diesel, am covered in hydraulic oil and see some ridiculous frocks but the first one I like.

    1. I can just see you in one of those opera costumes, Adrian... Or perhaps not :)

  2. I like all of them, though I personally am not crazy about the 2nd one.

    Have a Wonderful Week!

    1. All of these were made for very special occasions/purposes, no doubt :)

  3. You know I am very much a lover of fashion and clothes, so this is particularly interesting to me.
The next to last picture - I can just imagine myself and RJ wearing this to a ball. The dress would look very nice when dancing and swirling around!

    1. I'm sure I'd be exhausted just by squeezing myself into a dress like that, Meike. I think I would be content to wear something a little more comfortable and just watch from the gallery at the top of the elegant staircase that must surely be part of the scene.

    1. Sandra, I think with many exhibitions it's an advantage if one can visit more than once. And with a museum pass lasting the whole year one does not need to hesitate, one can just pop in for a little while whenever it happens to be convenient.

  5. Well I shall buck the trend. I think they are splendid except for the second one which is totally off the wall and absolutely my favourite for its sheer brazen fun.

    1. I agree with you Graham :) I'm sure this one must have been for a stage show. There were a lot more costumes of all kinds displayed in this exhibition (covering the whole range between elegant and crazy), I only took a few photos on this occasion though. Maybe if I go back I'll take some more.
