(I missed last week’s Postcards for the Weekend, with the theme Landforms – but I think Maria’s card covers both themes – land and water forms…)

And to finish off, a few cards I bought two years ago when (re)visiting the town where I was born, Trollhättan – famous for its waterfalls, and the canal and locks built to make it possible for big ships (as well as small boats!) to travel between Gothenburg on the west coast, and Lake Vänern. Read more about it and see my own photos here: The Waterfalls and Canal & Locks (2015, this blog)

  1. I don't know which I love the most, they are all fabulous!! This is the first time I have seen a postcard with a matching stamp! The ones you bought are really stunning. Sorry I am behind in sending! I am clomping around on a busted foot boot. I am going to see if I can send one today! How is the new computer doing?

    1. Ginny, I'm behind with sending postcards as well. I've spent all my "working" hours this past week on setting up the new computer... Some trials and errors involved, but on the whole all has gone well. It can now do most of the things I want it to do :) - and this post was created on it!

    1. Cards with matching stamps on the picture side of the card like that, and cancelled on the first day of issue, are called maxi-cards (or maximum cards). I haven't received all that many, but I have bought and sent Swedish ones myself in postcrossing context. They are only sold during a limited period of time (in connection with new stamps being issued), but can be sent later, and the postage is valid for anywhere in the world.

  3. Wow excellent! The Malta postcard was fassstt to arrive! :D

Thanks so much for sharing these cards. I left Gothenburg after 10 days of visit today. Hopefully next time I visit we can meet if you're okay with that and we can do some sightseeing in Gothenburg and surrounding places of interest together. :D

    1. Maria, from a world traveller's perspective it may sound weird, but I haven't actually been to Gothenburg myself since back in the previous century. I'll comment further via email or postcard :)

    1. Diana, the first three postcards were sent to me from other people. I've been to Britain in the past (way back in the 1970s) but certainly never to the Antarctis, or Malta... :)

  5. These are beautiful, so different and yet all of them fit the theme perfectly!
I find both the Arctic and the Antarctic uttely fascinating for being such extreme (in all senses of the word!) parts of our planet. Part of me would love to go and see them for myself, but the more reasonable part of me says "No way!!!"

  6. I am always fascinated by large ships coming through canals, there is certainly not a lot of leeway for the blue ship, the captain/navigator must have a steady hand. The light on the maxi card is stunning.
