These are beautiful, and I love the color! We had some once, Phil dug them up in a empty field and we planted them in the yard. They got tiny gold bugs with long snouts like a elephant. I have never see these bugs before or after.
In Lund, a town with lots of old houses preserved in the city, almost every one of them had hollyhocks growing outside. Even if there was no garden, there were still hollyhocks or roses growing at every door.

Given the right garden, hollyhocks are splendid plants.
LOVE the hollyhocks. we tried growing them and had no luck. we stole the seeds from a neighbor.

Sandra, in Lund they were everywhere. I don't know, maybe the climate is right for them there!
Ginny, the hollyhocks in Lund seemed to thrive, so I assume no bugs :)
