The sunny, cold and snowy spell seems to be over for now, and we're back to rain here. The best thing about today was that in the morning when I woke up I was convinced for a little while that it was Monday, but then realised that in fact it was only Sunday... Which made me feel like I suddenly got an "extra" day to just relax and do nothing! (Some people would probably say that that's what I do all week anyway - but what do they know...)
Back on Friday, between breakfast and lunch, I got started on the first phase of my winter decorations - which involves changing my kitchen curtains, and some other textiles.
My electric candles and star in the window won't be added until next weekend; but I put up the cord for the star while I was doing the curtains anyway.
My table runners and table cloths etc are kept together with the curtains in an old chest in the living room, so while I had that open, I also got some of those out - plus changed my "fake branches" in the vase on top of that chest when I closed it again. More to follow from next weekend onward... As long-term followers of this blog may remember, it is my habit to decorate a bit more for each Advent weekend, rather than put everything up at once. (Keeps me entertained rather than stressed!)

That table clothes have great patterns and colours
I've always loved all of your curtains, and enjoy looking when you change them. They are really the kind I would buy.
As you know, I love observing the seasonal changes you make to your flat, every year. And of course I am already looking forward to seeing Barbie and Skipper starting to get ready for Christmas :-)
The check curtains are so fresh and cheerful - just the thing to brighten up a miserable winter day. I'm looking forward to seeing all your seasonal changes too. Over the years my decorations have become very minimalist!
I do remember and I love those curtains, and the berries. we are the opposite. if I drag it out I am stressed the who time, I am a gitter down now person and am not happy until done. I do what I do in 2 hours and that's it. I think its a great idea to stretch it out since you love doing it that way. I enjoy watching it bloom and change and each time its a little different.. happy decorating and enjoy
Ro, yes, I like it too...
Ginny, these red-and-white-checkered curtains I've had for a very long time, I know I also had them in the kitchen in my previous apartment (in winter).
Meike, for now, just like me, Barbie and Skipper are quite content just being dressed warm and looking at fake candles.... ;)
Thanks Carol. I do like having those red-and-white curtains in the kitchen in winter, as a contrast to the now rather colourless view out of the window. In the other rooms I don't change the curtains, those in my living room and study have a little red in them anyway.
Sandra, the thing is I've never seen it as dragging it out - it's simply the way I've always done it, and how it was done in my childhood as well. Some things for 1st Advent, some things for St Lucy's day (Dec 13), and the Christmas tree not taken in and decorated until just before Christmas Eve. (And Christmas not "thrown out" until mid January.)
Everything goes with the festive colours of the season and your apartment is very cute.
Thanks Amy :)
