Last week, a florist’s shop close to where I live had a sell-out. (They may open again somewhere else in the future, but then probably not in my neighbourhood.) I’ll miss them; but meanwhile, I decided to take advantage of the sell-out and bought several new fresh indoor plants for my windows. With prices 50-70% off, I felt I could afford to indulge myself.
I also bought more tulips, even though they don’t last long…
All the more reason to take photos while I had them, though!
If fresh tulips are short-lived, orchids usually last all the longer.
As do Saintpaulias and Streptocarpus
(African violets and Cape primrose)

You have chosen well, Monica, and really have managed to bring spring into your flat!
Yesterday, O.K. and I had the first anniversary of us getting together. He brought me a beautiful bouquet of flowers. It brightens up the entire room! (Not that my living room is dark, but you know what I mean.)
Oh my! They are all GORGEOUS! And they spell EASTER and SPRING!! I love the colors you chose. Especially the beautiful shades of purple. The African Violet should last for many years. Your plant with all green leaves...I have one of these in the living room. But it is FAKE! And not even as pretty as your live one! I LOVE your closeup of the big purple tulip, it is outrageously beautiful!!
they are all gorgeous and they do say spring has sprung inside your home.. my favorite is the multi colors of tulips in the white vase...
awesome sunshine and shadows on that white orchid.
Absolutely beautiful.
Oh my....it's just marvelous...the colors, I think I can even smell them.
How beautiful and heart warming for you. I was never a fan of the tulip because it struck me as, like orchids, a very 'formal' flower. However having grown them for the last year or two I have completely changed my mind and your photos have encouraged my new perspective even more.
Meike, flowers do have that power - and flowers from a loved one even more so :)
Ginny, I've had Afrian violets in the past too and they are very hardy - as are the Streptocarpus. The past few years I've been too lazy to take care of the old ones properly, though (like replanting them in fresh soil now and then, or growing new ones from cuttings). So it was good to get a new start with some new plants now :)
Sandra, multicolour tulips are the most fun for the camera... :)
:)
Wanda, I try to buy fragrance free flowers because of my allergies. The tulips did actually give off a certain fragrance though - so maybe you did smell those :)
Graham - the tulip may seem a bit stiff to begin with, but once it begins to open up you never know quite what to expect! (lol)
Great pictures! How lovely! And what a coincidence, Phalaenopsis, African violets and streptocarpus are my absolute favourite indoor plants. It's a bit too warm for tulips to do well here, sadly.
Wow! That phalaenopsis orchid amazing! They grow outside here, and the supermarkets sell them as well, but I have not seen such a lovely example. You definitely landed a bargain. No doubt that plant will flower for many years, bring great pleasure to everyone who sees it. Lucky, lucky you.
Thanks Kate. From the comments I get it seems these plants have gone quite international as indoor plants!
Louise, I don't think I've had that colour before but I have had others that have sprung new flowers after a while, so I hope this one will as well.
