Rydal Water – English Lake District
From John in England, 2018
Old school photo from the Netherlands
From Jarina, 2018
Postcard printed in 1978, but my guess is that the photo is around 40 years older. (I compared it to my own parents’ old school photos from around then. Those big hairbows on the girls…)
Another vintage style postcard sent by Jarina:
Old cover picture from a Catalogue of Flowers

I was born in 44 and wore those hair bows until i was about 8 I think.
Jarina tells me that the school photo is from 1928.
I've never seen any vintage photo featuring those big hair bows except for this one. It's such a delightful hair accessory! I'm not sure I would have been brave enough to wear one myself, given my minimalist style. Thanks for sharing these postcards, Monica!
It's a very original idea to turn an old school picture into a postcard. It gives a nice inside about the country.
On very small children you can still see that big hair bows in Morocco. I dare to say they are becoming fashionable again! :)
I thought I commented yesterday. Obviously not. The Rydal Water is very much of the style of its time.
