December 10 - Tuesday

A side entrance to Lund Cathedral, Skåne, Sweden

(A rather grand archway for a narrow door...)

You are right! I wonder if a wheelchair or walker would even fit thru there! They need less archway and more opening! But I guess it is historical and more known for it's artistry than practicality.

I am wondering if the door was for a special usage… it is pretty, long and narrow. alos it might be wider than it looks, the photo is slightly at an angle.

Ginny, I doubt they worried much about accessibility for wheelchairs back in medieval times when this cathedral was built ;) Besides, this is not the main entrance, and I doubt it ever was (because the main entrance is usually at the tower end of the churches; and this door is on the side).

Perhaps :)

Church doors are often high. This one just struck me as being unusually narrow for its height and the elaborate archway.

I like it. I used to 'collect' doors - or photos of them but I seem to have stopped.

Graham, I kind of 'collect' doors, too (and windows) - well, not really in an organized manner, but I (and my camera) always feel drawn to them...
