My little Christmas tree is up again, in its usual place on top of an old chest of drawers in my living room. It is nearly always the last decoration I put up; still kind of following the tradition from my childhood, when the (real and full size) tree was not taken in and decorated until just before Christmas Eve...
I have two different chains of led lights in it now; one with 10 led lights inside baubles of different colours, and another with 15 tiny plain led lights. (Both run on batteries.)
The trains were both "fun" gifts from me to my dad once upon a time, because he was a train enthusiast. (I found them when clearing out my parents house before we sold that.)
The Fairy and Unicorn piece was a gift from a friend in England (some years ago).

you are Ready Now! way to go! it looks so pretty, I love all your holiday special things. this will keep your flat bright and cheery on these dark days
It's beautiful! I love your tree and all your special decorations.
Your flat is always beautiful but especially so this time of year.
Yesterday was the only night this week when I didn't have an appointment of some sort, and my original idea was to bring up my tree from the cellar (where it lives during the year, taken apart and stored in two large black bin bags). But guess what... as evening came round and I finished work, I just didn't feel like traipsing up and down several times anymore. So, no tree yet, and right now I am almost decided on not setting it up at all - I won't be around anyway, spending Christmas Eve at my Mum's, Christmas Day at O.K.'s and Boxing Day at his sister's.
The tree is lovely - as are all your decorations. It's distinctly un-Christmassy here, though the decorations are just waiting to be unpacked.
Thanks Sandra. Yes, it's been a really dull and dark week so bringing out the Christmas lights does make it feel more cosy inside :)
Thanks for stopping by, Denise!
Meike, I never really had the space for a big tree in any of my flats. Still happy with this little one I bought 37 years ago (my first Xmas living in Borås). In my 20s I didn't have one at all as then I never spent Christmas in my own home and was often away for New Year as well.
Carol, I always felt I probably wouldn't bother half as much about Christmas decorations in a warmer climate. Or at least not the most "wintry" stuff! ;-)
it's lovely. I do like the fairy and unicorn.
The only Christmas decorations I have are my 'Christmas Trees' made many years ago by Catriona from my New Zealand Family together with a few other odds and ends.I am feeling singularly non-Christmassy this year.
I was hoping you'd still have Catriona's Tree on display, Graham! There is something very wonderful about that one.
Amy, I understand that in some countries, it's not uncommon to have a Christmas fairy at the top of the Christmas tree. Here in Sweden, it's usually a star though, and I have never really associated fairies with Christmas at all. The fairy and unicorn came to me from a friend in England one year and have ended up among my Christmas tree ornaments.
Graham, it's not really about quantity, is it. Nearly all of my Christmas ornaments that I've kept have some sort of "story" attached - either as gifts from friends, or inherited, or some other kind of memory connected with it.
