Happy Valentine’s Day to all my Friends!

Not the kind of “love” question you’re expecting for Valentine’s Day. No, what I want to know is: What do you love most about reading?

Trying to find an answer that covers everything between fact and fiction, I arrived at this:

What I love most about reading is that it keeps broadening my horizons.

Or, as the quote on this postcard I recently got from a friend puts it:

someplacetogo

“Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are.”

  4. Happy Valentine's Day, Monica!!! Is it celebrated much in Sweden? Do the kids exchange Valentines like they do here? Gosh, I never thought about the reason I like reading. When I was a child, it was to escape. Now it is to learn, or get a laugh, or be amazed.

  5. What I most love about reading is the possibility of delving into another place, another time, another life. Not that there is anything wrong with my real life! And when a non-fiction book is written in a way that captures me so much that I can really delve into the matter, the side-effect of learning something along the way is most welcome :-)

  6. I must share a short story about reading and its wonderful results. My SIL grew up in East Los Angeles in a gang invested neighborhood. Left alone because of a single working mom, he found a miracle...a Library several blocks away....He escaped daily to the library and READ, READ, READ. Today he is a very educated man, military and almost 30 years with LA Metro Systems as a tech...He said reading saved my life, and I've been all over the world, met thousands of famous people, all in the form of books.
