I was going to a shopping mall on the other side of town today to buy new parasols for my balcony. But it was a fine day and when I got off the bus I decided to go for a bit of a walk first. Not very far from the busy mall, there is this half-hidden spot of beauty called Ålgården, which was originally an old mill, then water works, then museum, and now it serves as artists’ gallery and workshops. (Follow the link to read more.) No exhibition going on at the moment; I just had a look around outside.
Then back to “the other world” ;) – an exceptionally dull shopping mall with just warehouse/ store-room kind of buildings!

ReplyDeleteThe mill pictures are beautiful!!! What a shock to come back to the real modern day! I just downloaded the Internet Explorer 9, and now am unable to post!
ReplyDeleteThe mill is such a graceful building. Then there are the Big Box stores.
ReplyDeleteThe mill looks an idyllic spot. Your header picture is beautiful too.

The old mill photos are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe old mill and pond are very photogenic. It looks like a great place to breathe in deeply, relax and enjoy.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, that mill is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteTerrific photos. My shots this week are of a mill pond as well.
ReplyDeleteI much prefer the serenity and natural beauty of the first photos to that of the warehouse. These shots are superb. I'd love to take a stroll near that old mill. It seems so peaceful.

Beautiful scenes and reflections!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend.
Very nice posting : I loved the contrast between the quiet of the mill's view and the agitation on the parking lot of the mall... This mill looks like a perfect place to live, though : you don't even have to take your car to go shopping... Must be inspiring, for the artists exposed there.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely setting for a mill or a museum. It is just a gorgeous spot. What a wonderful place to go walking with your camera...no end of pretty images to capture.
ReplyDeleteAs you might expect my favourites are the mill. I have a liking for water mills.
ReplyDeleteYou can see more pictures from the old mill site at my other blog here
ReplyDeleteHow strange, so far no comment to say they prefer the sight of the shopping mall... ;)
