There’s still winter outside (we’ve had a couple of sunny days, but the nights are still very cold). Indoors however, it is MY decision when spring begins… So in my kitchen, spring began yesterday. This means putting up my yellow curtains, spreading my lemon-and-oranges tablecloth, and buying a bouqet of tulips to celebrate.
The pattern on the tablecloth is designed by a Swedish artist whose work I like very much, Lena Linderholm.
You’ll probably be seeing a lot of these tulips… They were so expensive I have to make the most of them!

ReplyDeleteSandra you're right about the 'liquid sunshine', one of the reasons I like to put up the yellow curtains this time of year is that feeling they give of sunshine even in dull weather.

As for the lemons and oranges, I associate these rather with summer, but they match the curtains so well and provide a wonderful background for the bouquet of tulips. I hope they'll last long!
ReplyDeleteMeike, a friend of mine who just spent a week in the south of Spain posted photos on FB of orange trees full of ripe fruit. (Here in Sweden we can't grow lemons or oranges at all.)
DeleteOh my goodness, your kitchen is gorgeous!! I LOVE the sheer yellow curtains, and they look beautiful with the tablecloth. I can never think of things like this and am not good at decorating. It would look like the sun is always coming in.

DeleteI love that tablecloth. So cheerful. At the moment flowers are remarkably inexpensive in the shops here. They seem to vary enormously. Having peaked on Valentine's Day they came down but will no doubt rise again shortly for the British Mother's Day.
ReplyDeleteI actually took a subscription to a weekly magazine for a period just to get that tablecloth (it was a special design for them, not to be bought in the shops). I love it too! I've had it a few years now (but primarily use it in spring/summer).
DeleteVery happy and cheerful. I love yellow. It's possibly my favourite colour too. Although it's not a colour I use very much in my house where things are more muted.
ReplyDeleteGraham, my kitchen is very neutral in colour in itself - I used textiles (curtains and tablecloth) to bring in colour which makes it easy to change the colour scheme from time to time. Actually the same could be said of the rest of the flat but it's only in the kitchen that I regularly change curtains by season.
