… for SOOC Sunday

“Oh what a tangled web we weave…”

… but this one seemed to come out straight in the end!

“Destiny itself is like a wonderful wide tapestry
in which every thread is guided by an
unspeakably tender hand, placed beside another thread,
and carried by a hundred others.”

  9. Is the loom mechanical? I do not see any machinery around. I really like weaving and may someday have a floor loom. The photos are great.

  11. Thanks all for your comments.
@EG Wow - my first guess would be linen but have to confess I'm not 100% sure.
@Lynn - I'm not sure whether this loom was part mechanical or not. Anyway as far as I can understand all those threads would have to be put in place manually to start with.

I took a lot of photos and there are so many looms and machines from different decades all together in this hall. With some I took photos of explanatory signs next to them to be able to remember, but with some I either forgot or didn't see a sign. With this one my fascination was with the light and all the threads crossing each other...

  15. That is beautiful. I remember long time ago that my mother had a loom. I don't know whatever happened to it.

  16. Really beautiful photos. I remember seeing weaving looms like these in Ireland. So much work to set them up, but the results are so worth it!
