Go as far as you can see; when you get there,
you’ll be able to see farther.

Opportunities flit by while we sit regretting the chances
that we have lost; and the happiness that comes to us
we heed not because of the happiness that is gone.

We know what we are, but know not what we may be.

This is a beautiful and dreamy picture with that lovely frame, and perfet commentary to go with it about how we can keep ourselves from going forward because of the past. But each day we can start over.
ReplyDeletethis is super shot for me, Monica. the sign just makes the photo fit perfectly with the quote. love it lots
ReplyDeleteplease stop by my blog, so that your country flag mounted on my blog,.... thanks and greetings from Jogja.
ReplyDeleteThe Carlyle quote is a self-evident truth that we often miss.
ReplyDeleteThe Jerome quote is from Idle Thoughts of an Idle Fellow which was a book of humerous essays and so far as I can recall he was probably trying to tell us to put our regrets behind us. Ok.
I rather enjoyed his statement that "There is no fun in doing nothing when you have nothing to do."
The Shakespeare quote is quite apposite because I'm hoping to go and see Hamlet tomorrow night.
Forgot to say that I really like what you did to the photo as well as the photo. Very appropriate.
ReplyDeleteThanks all för your appreciative comments.
ReplyDeleteGB, thanks for adding the information where that Jerome quote was from. That's a book by him that I've never read. The quote I came across randomly on the internet. Three Men in a Boat is one of my all time favourite books that I have read more times than I've kept count of over forty years or so. I also have the sequel Three Men on a Bummel. But Idle Thoughts I have never even heard of. I must see if I can try and get hold of it!
