The problem with that dishworld is that all the oceans would gather in the centre and flood Africa. Unless, of course, it is spinning to use centrifugal force to keep the oceans where they are.
GB - Well, how much more likely is it really that the oceans stay in place on a globe! My biggest concern when I saw this was where the rest of the world might have gone.

you hit the nail on the head for me, the world dish is odd. great photo and I like those tea cups, but the dish is...well, odd.
